He was one of the most influential and original composers of his time, and his music had a significant impact on the development of modern music.Satie began taking music lessons at the age of six and showed an early talent for music. He returned to Paris in 1878 to continue his musical studies, and in 1885 he was accepted into the Paris Conservatory. He quickly found the Conservatory not to his liking, and joined the military to get away from it. However, the army proved no more to his liking than the conservatory, and he soon intentionally developed acute bronchitis in order to be discharged from the military.Despite these setbacks, Satie continued to pursue his musical career and began composing in a style that was unique and innovative. He developed a style of music that was characterized by its simplicity and lack of emotion, which he called "furniture music." This style of music was intended to be played in the background of social events and was meant to be unobtrusive. In addition to his musical career, Satie was known for his eccentric personality and his love of drinking alcohol. He was a member of various artistic circles in Paris, including the Symbolist movement and the Parisian cabaret scene.Satie's music was not widely recognized during his lifetime, and he struggled to make a living as a composer. However, his influence on the modern music scene cannot be overstated. He is often credited with laying the groundwork for minimalism and ambient music, and his influence can be heard in the works of many modern composers.Satie died on July 1, 1925, in Paris, at the age of 59 of cirrhosis of the liver. His legacy as a composer and innovator in the world of music lives on, and his works continue to inspire and challenge musicians and listeners alike. Read more
